2nd Test: India wins Boxing Day Test, beat Australia by 8 wickets

Despite the absence of key players like Virat, Rohit, Ishant and Shami. India chased the much-needed 70-runs to beat Australia by eight wickets on the fourth day. India has levelled the four-match Test series 1-1. The next Test will be played on January 7th at Sydney. (Australia- 195 & 200, India - 326 & 70/2)

Ajinkya Rahane led Team India on Tuesday to a memorable win post the Adelaide loss to level the four-match Test series at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. With this win, Ajinkya Rahane is the second Indian skipper to record a win in each of his first three Tests as a captain after MS Dhoni. Debutant Shubman Gill’s 35, skipper Ajinkya Rahane’s unbeaten 27 led India to chase the needed 70 runs to win the 2nd Test with eight wickets remaining. While Mayank Agarwal scored just five and Cheteshwar Pujara managed just three runs in the second innings. Earlier, India in its first innings having bowled Australia 195/10 (72.3 Overs) scored 326/10 (115.1 Overs) with Captain Ajinkya Rahane slamming a century 112 which included 12 fours, powered by Ravindra Jadeja’s 57 run knock and Shubman Gill’s impressive 45 runs. Later Australia in its second innings scored 200/10 (103.1 Overs).

Coming to the bowling department, in the first Innings Bumrah, Ashwin and Siraj scalped four, three and two wickets respectively, while Jadeja took one wicket. In the second innings, Siraj was the pick of the bowlers for India having scalped three wickets as Ashwin, Jadeja and Bumrah picked up two wickets each and Umesh Yadav taking one.
