Ever since the project 800 was announced, the Tamil media has created a lot of fuss. The film is based on Muttiah Muralidharan, who is a Sri Lankan of Tamil descent. This has not gone well with many in the media.
Things went to the next level when the news was out that none other than Vijay Sethupathi will be playing Murali in the film. The first look also made a lot of noise and the entire Tamil community wanted Vijay to back out of the project.
But Vijay stuck his ground. Murali requested Vijay to drop the project. “I understand that Vijay Sethupathi is facing a lot of pressure from a few people. I do not want a celebrated actor like him facing trouble because of people who mistook me. Hence, I am asking him to opt out of this biopic.” posted Murali.
Sethupathi on Monday shared Muralitharan’s statement on Twitter and wrote, “Thank you and goodbye.”
