The case of the silver statues theft has turned into a big challenge for the Vijayawada police, as they haven’t got a single clue even after interrogating hundreds of people in connection with the case. However, the police have managed to conclude the time of the theft. With the police failing to nab the culprits who stole the silver lions, devotees are praying to Goddess Durga to punish the thieves without delay.
Why is it complicated?
Out of the four silver lions placed on the chariot at the Kanaka Durga temple, three were stolen. The incident had triggered a nationwide sensation following the burning of a chariot in Antarvedi, drawing angry reactions from Hindus. There are allegations that the government is not taking the issue seriously despite 18 consecutive attacks on Hindu temples. Following the intense outrage, the government took the Durga temple case seriously.
Six special teams were formed to investigate the theft, and even after a month there hasn’t been an update. This means that the thieves involved in stealing were experts and hence did not leave a single clue, making matters worse for the police.
When did the theft take place?
Police investigation reveals that the three silver lions went missing on June 26, 2020. Despite having forensic reports, the police couldn’t find a single clue leaving them scratching their heads as they are unable to crack the case.
If at least one clue is found…
The officials are discussing how to move forward without a single clue being found despite interrogating hundreds of suspects. However, there are suspicions that the police could not identify the burglars as someone working inside the temple could be behind the issue as the CCTV cameras were not working due to lack of backup power. Now, police are trying to track down people who had a prior knowledge about the CCTV cameras not working.
Is there political interference?
There are doubts that there is a hand of influential persons in the theft of silver lions from the chariot of Durga temple. People suspect that there are some political forces which are protecting them. The opposition parties are criticizing that the government was trying to protect the real burglars as it was afraid of its reputation. Well, according to a popular saying even god cannot catch the person who steals from his own house.
