JC Diwakar Reddy’s clarion call to hold a protest along with his brother Prabhakar Reddy in Tadipatri led to heightened tension prevail in Anantapur. Both JC Diwakar Reddy and Prabhakar Reddy announced that would lead the protests in a peaceful manner even if they were apprehended for not obtaining police permission. Following the announcement, both JC brothers were house arrested by the police. Also, none of the TDP supporters were allowed a permit to hold protests and restriction were imposed in order to maintain law and order in the district with heavy deployment of security forces.
When the police reached the farmhouse of the TDP leader JC Diwakar Reddy, the latter issued a stern warning to the personnel and even questioned them as to who gave them permission to enter his residence. Divakar Reddy even lambasted the police, alleging them of negligence and misbehaviour. Unable to bear the former TDP MP abusing the police, DSP Srinivas vented his ire at fellow policemen. This led to the localites, TDP supporters and other policemen to intervene and bring the situation under control.
It may be recollected that a few days earlier, Tadipatri YSRCP MLA Kethireddy Peddareddy had attacked JC Diwakar Reddy’s house leading to a tense atmosphere in the area. Police had even filed cases against both the leaders in connection with the violence and had imposed section 144. Following this, the TDP and YSRCP clashed against each other in Tadipatri, causing both the leaders from the two parties to engage in a verbal duel, hurling allegations and counter-allegations against each other.
