The AP government decided to sell valuable government lands under the Build AP program, wherein valuable lands were identified for auction. However, the severe outrage by opposition parties and people of the state led to the government changing its plans. Now again the AP government has brought land sales issues to the forefront. Opposition parties have criticized that the government had set low prices for the auction of government lands.
Will you bid at half the market price?
As part of the Build AP, 11 acres have been identified near Guntur city and 57 acres in the outskirts of Vijayawada. However, the prices set by the government for the auction of these lands have raised many doubts. In Ajit Singh Nagar, a suburb of Vijayawada, an acre of land is worth Rs 8 crore while the price fixed by the government is only Rs 4 crore. The Left parties have criticized the government for being ready to hand over the lands to their person at half the price. The government has also decided to auction 11 acres of land in front of Gannavaram Airport. However, an acre behind the RTO office, opposite to Gannavaram Airport, is priced at Rs 9 crore. The Left is gearing up for agitation after the government had decided to auction it for Rs 3.5 crore per acre.
Does the government really intend to auction the lands? Or are YCP leaders doing this to evoke a revoke a response from opposition parties? However, real estate has plunged in AP as there are no land buyers. The TDP is opposing the government’s move to sell lands at throwaway prices when it said that there was no place for government offices.
Auction of prime lands in Guntur
It was decided to construct tanks required for water supply to the city on 11 acres of government land in Nallapadu near Guntur city. The works were postponed due to lack of funds. Engineers opine that the proximity of these lands to Guntur would make it easier to bring water from the right canal of Nagarjuna Sagar and post purification could cater to the drinking water needs of the city people. Sadly, the YCP government is trying to auction even this land.
The Left parties are getting ready for agitation on this. But, does the AP government intend to auction these lands or is it trying to fool the opposition?
