Telugu Desam Party leaders are continuing to criticize the performance of the police in the state. In a fresh attack against AP DGP Gautam Sawang, former minister Kothapalli Samuel Jawahar alleged that the top cop is trying to contest as an MP on behalf of the YSRCP in the upcoming elections.
KS Jawahar added that he was stopped by the police on his way home after being elected as the Rajahmundry Parliamentary Party President and was questioned whether he needed passports, visas and permits for the visit. He was also stopped from garlanding the statues of BR Ambedkar and Jagjivan Ram.
The former minister insisted that along with Sawang, a few other police officers too were expecting MLA tickets from YSRCP. The TDP leader also demanded answers from police regarding any action taken against YSRCP leaders who took out rallies.
Jawahar even took a dig at AP police saying he doubted whether he was in AP or Pakistan, adding that police were enforcing YCP rules instead of IPC. He poked fun at the ruling party saying they were resorting to looting, hiding and sharing. “No matter how many cases are filed, there is no going back,” the former minister said. He will reportedly file private cases against the atrocities carried out by the police on members of the opposition.
