AP Government hikes honorarium for gallantry awards

The Andhra Pradesh Government has announced a hike in honorarium for gallantry award recipients.

In a major decision taken by the AP Government, it has been announced that the financial aid or honorarium to gallantry award-winning brave soldiers would be increased. Those who are awarded the Param Vir Chakra (highest war-time gallantry award) and Ashoka Chakra (highest peacetime military decoration) will get a monthly honorarium of ₹1,00,00,000 instead of current ₹10,00,000. While those who are conferred with the Maha Vir Chakra and Kirti Chakra will now get ₹80,00,000 instead of the current ₹8,00,000. For Vir Chakra and Shaurya Chakra winners a sum of ₹60,00,000 will be awarded instead of ₹6,00,000 given at present. However, the AP Government has made it clear that this scheme for gallantry award winners is subject to only those in the state.
