Bihar politics is taking different turns. It may be recalled that out of the 243 seats, the JD(U) is fighting on 122 and BJP on 121 seats. However, the LJP founded by Ram Vilas Paswan had announced that it would contest elections without any alliance. Now, the BJP leaders and former leaders are joining the party of Paswan. What does this signify? It appears as if they are changing parties because they could not get a ticket, but the indications are that the leaders are presently contesting from other parties on the suggestions of BJP.
Speculations suggest that the BJP is resorting to crooked politics by staging the LJP go solo without alliance in order to seize the post of the chief minister. However, the BJP on Wednesday, made it clear that no matter how many seats any party gets, Nitish Kumar will be the chief minister. The party thought it had given clarity on this and gave the impression that it had thwarted the aggression of Ram Vilas Paswan’s son Chirag Paswan.
Meanwhile, Rajendra Singh, BJP leader and a long-time RSS activist left the party and joined LJP. Rajendra Singh wanted to contest from Dinara constituency. However, the seat had to be allotted to JDU as part of the alliance. He revolted against the BJP and joined LJP. The same technique was adopted by another leader within 24 hours. With previous experience as MLA BJP leader Usha Rani joined LJP. She expected a ticket from Paligunj Assembly constituency, but this seat had gone to JDU as per the alliance. Since there were no chances in BJP, she had joined the LJP.
Already Chirag Paswan has given scope for speculation by announcing that his party will be supporting BJP candidate for the post of Chief Minister after the results. What should we think of the BJP leaders and former leaders, who are joining LJP in the guise of rebellion and contesting against JDU?
