If goings-on in the party circles are to be believed, TDP Supremo N Chandrababu Naidu has reportedly finalised K Atchannaidu name for the driving seat in AP. The firebrand TDP leader was chosen after consultations with the senior leaders in the party. Naidu considers the Tekkali MLA, who comes from the backward area of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and belongs to the Backward Classes, a perfect fit in the current political scenario.
Naidu had reportedly deferred the announcement following his arrest by the ACB sleuths in connection with the ESI scandal. However, the TDP leader, who was out on bail granted by State High Court immediately took to Twitter and challenged the ruling YSRCP Government to foist more ‘false’ cases because he will continue ‘raising his voice’.
Atchannaidu tweeted, “if it is wrong to question the corruption in the State Government and it amounts to an offence, then, irrespective of how many false cases that are going to be foisted against me, I will commit such wrongs.”
The TDP leader made it clear in his tweet “Sincerity is my courage, truth is my weapon and people’s well being is my goal.”
A tweet from Atchannaidu has come as a sigh of relief to the party rank and file at a time when TDP is passing through rough weather. Naidu had earlier chosen him as deputy leader in the Assembly for standing strong for the party during crisis times.
After suffering a major setback in the 2019 Assembly elections, the TDP chief is reportedly busy cleaning up the house to give space to new blood. He had already appointed mandal level party committees ahead of the local body elections and is likely to form the party Lok Sabha constituency-wise committees soon.
As per party sources, Atchannaidu is set to take over as AP TDP chief in the third week of September.
