The reason behind Lok Janshakti Party fighting the Bihar assembly polls alone, despite sharing an alliance with the NDA has paved the way for several political views. The sudden demise of Cabinet Minister Ram Vilas Paswan who played a crucial role in the NDA led Chirag Paswan to bear LJP’s responsibilities on his shoulders. What led to the BJP and LJP that share a good friendship to part ways when it came to the Bihar elections? This has led to several suspicions arising among political circles.
Why the LJP fought alone?
First of all, LJP does not hold a significant position in Bihar, except for two to three districts. However, the passing away of Union Minister and the state’s tallest leader Ram Vilas Paswan led to the hopes that the party could cash on the sympathy wave. According to BJP strategists, it was expected that the LJP might win at least ten seats if it fought alone. Now, the BJP made it clear to Chirag Paswan that they would support him if ten seats were assured by LJP and if the latter would back a BJP candidate for the CM post. Contrary to BJP’s expectations, the LJP won just a single seat.
Will LJP get a Cabinet berth?
The BJP caused a major loss for LJP having made the latter to contest alone. The only seat where the LJP emerged winner is Matihani in Begusarai district, with LJP candidate Raj Kumar Singh defeating Janata Dal (United) candidate Narendra Kumar Singh AKA Bogo Singh. However, there is no clarity on the LJP rejoining the BJP. When Bihar CM Nitish Kumar was asked whether LJP would rejoin the NDA, the former said that the BJP would decide about it, hinting he knew about the politics happening in the background.
Will not join Nitish Cabinet: HAM
Jitan Ram Manjhi, the Chief of Hindustani Awam Morcha on Thursday confirmed that he will not be joining the Nitish Kumar Cabinet. The HAM Chief who was elected the leader of its four-member legislature party called on winning Congress MLAs to join the NDA and strive to bring development to the state. According to political experts, Manjhi’s claims assumes significance given the fact that the BJP wants to decimate the Congress from the state so that it makes the way clear for the saffron party’s dominion in the state.
