The allotment of shops in the popular pilgrim centre of Srisailam to Muslims has led to a political storm. It may be mentioned here that the Goshamahal BJP MLA Raja Singh from Hyderabad has accused the YSRCP MLA Chakrapani Reddy of damaging the sanctity of the temple by allotting 90 per cent shops to Muslims using his influence. Reacting to the allegations, the YSRCP legislator Chakrapani Reddy has said that he would resign if the allegations made by the BJP MLA were true. He challenged Raja Singh to come for a debate in front of seniors in Srisailam. He also challenged Raja Singh to resign if he couldn’t prove his allegations.
Chakrapani said that the Muslims were doing business for four decades in Srisailam. They have even got orders from the Supreme Court. He said that Razak was in politics for the last 40 years but he was not his follower. There is no truth in the allegations that he deliberately provided shops to Muslims. He said that Raja Singh would come to know about his Hinduism from the Peethadhipatis and Mathadipatis and also added that he gave lakhs of rupees as donations for temples. He said, the efforts to make him anti-Hindu would not work.
BJP MLA Raja Singh said that the YSRCP government was not considering the Court orders to cancel the temporary shops allotted in Srisailam. He had alleged that shops in temple town were allotted to Muslim youth Razak by the MLA. He also alleged that the Muslims were consuming beef, liquor and alcohol. Though there is a clear rule that non-Hindus should not be given shops in the temple town, the YSRCP government was deliberately allotting shops to Muslims, alleged Raja Singh. Asking the government to save the sanctity of Srisailam, Raja Singh warned that if they enter into the scene, the situation would be different.
