CBI Court: No special treatment for YS Jagan, should attend every Friday

AP CM YS Jagan was not exempted from having to appear in the special CBI Court every Friday.

There is no exemption for YS Jaganmohan Reddy just because he is the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. A special CBI court has ruled that AP CM Jaganmohan Reddy, who is A1, and MP Vijayasai Reddy, who is A2, should appear before the court for trial in the corruption and irregularities case. It is known that the disproportionate assets cases involving YS Jagan are being heard every Friday in the CBI court in Hyderabad. However, Jagan having been elected the AP CM had sought for exemption from appearing in court directly. The CBI court told Jagan’s counsel explicitly that both, the AP CM and YSRCP RS MP Vijayasai Reddy should attend the court proceedings personally henceforth, as they were exempted till now. YS Jagan’s request seeking an exemption from personal appearance has been rejected by the CBI Court. The court ruled that the trial had nothing to do with status, adding that YS Jaganmohan Reddy should attend the hearing on the 10th of this month.

No exemption for CM?

The Special CBI Court in Hyderabad has been hearing cases pertaining to Jaganmohan Reddy every Friday. Even in the case of Jagan taking out a walkathon during the election campaign, he had asked for an exemption from personal attendance. With the court, having refused at the time, every Thursday he used to stop the walkathon and attend the court in Hyderabad, only to resume on Saturday. However, after having become CM all these years he got the exemption. However, the CBI court in its latest ruling made it clear that it cannot grant an exemption, whatever the status, and that Jagan should attend the court proceedings.
