The tractor rally by farmers protesting against the contentious farm laws passed by the Centre has turned violent at the Tikri and Ghazipur borders in Delhi. The police fired tear gas and baton-charged the agitating farmers as tried to break the barricades at the border and enter the city. The tractor rally by farmers began from Ghazipur border in the wee hours of Tuesday.

As its Republic Day, the Delhi Police in view of the security allowed farmers to take out the tractor rally in the afternoon post 1 pm. However, the farmers began the rally at 11 am and tried to enter the National Capital via Ghazipur and Tikri borders. With the farmers breaking down barricades set up by the police personnel, a violent clash broke out between farmers and security forces. A verbal duel also broke out between the farmers and police personnel. The rally is expected to go on till evening.
