Swedish environmental activist, Greta Thunberg who initially had shared a toolkit and deleted it, updated it with a new one. It is known that Pop singer Rihanna’s tweet led to a massive outrage with the Ministry of External Affairs making it clear that it was an attempt to malign India. She mentioned about seven ways to back the agitation and even suggested holding protests at the closest Indian embassy on February 13 and 14.
“Before rushing to comment on such matters, we would urge that the facts be ascertained, and a proper understanding of the issues at hand be undertaken. The temptation of sensationalist social media hashtags and comments, especially when resorted to by celebrities and others, is neither accurate nor responsible,” the Centre in its statement said.
On the other hand, the Centre hit back strongly saying that a conspiracy is being planned, while Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that no propaganda could deter India’s unity. Many other celebrities like Sachin Tendulkar, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar and Kangana Ranaut among a few had tweeted the same message, “Let’s remain united.”
We stand in solidarity with the #FarmersProtest in India.
