Dadasaheb Phalke Award is the highest award given in Indian Cinema. So far 50 people have received the award. It is a privilege for the Centre to announce this award to Rajinikanth before the Tamil Nadu elections. This was stated by Union Minister Javadekar. The Dadasaheb Phalke Award has so far been received by 33 people from the Hindi film industry and 18 people from other languages.

Many film personalities are congratulating Rajinikanth on the achievement.
The jurors who chose Rajinikanth for the prestigious award include singers Asha Bhosle and Shankar Mahadevan, actors Mohanlal and Biswajeet, and filmmaker Subhash Ghai.
