Delhi: Minor blast near Israel Embassy

A low-intensity IED explosion took place close to the Israel Embassy in Delhi, around 1.4 kms from Vijay Chowk, where PM Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind had arrived for ‘Beating the Retreat’ event.

According to sources, a minor improvised explosive device was detonated close to the Israel Embassy in the National Capital. Fortunately, except for shattered windscreens of cars at the site, no casualties or injuries to people have been reported. The police state that the explosive was hidden inside a plastic bag at the premises of Jindal residence, near the embassy.

Special Cell of the Delhi Police and Intelligence Agencies have arrived at the spot and the entire stretch of the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam road has been cordoned off. Around, 1.4 kms from the spot, PM Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind along with several VIPs had gathered to witness the traditional ‘Beating the Retreat’ceremony.
