AP DGP Gautam Sawang has once again lashed out at the opposition political parties, stating that some people are politicizing the panchayat elections for their political mileage. The top police official added that elections must be held irrespective of politics. He said the police have been facing many challenges since the nominations process began and reminded that the police have been identified as front-line personnel and they are being vaccinated for Covid. However, he said it was not possible to vaccinate everyone, and hence the police had discussed the matter with the unions. Sawang recalled that police unions told him that they would sacrifice vaccination. He told the Mangalagiri DGP’s office that he was proud of the decision taken by the police unions for the public interest.
