Filmfare awards are the most coveted awards introduced to honor artistic and technical excellence in Indian cinema. Though they were initially confined to Hindi cinema, Filmfare has now started awarding South, Marathi and Eastern Indian cinema. Owing to their long legacy from 1954, they are called as Academy Awards of the Indian film industry.
As COVID-19 pandemic stalled the film industry, OTT platforms emerged as the de facto choice of entertainment for millions of people. So the team of Filmfare introduced FLYX FILMFARE OTT AWARDS to honour the talent in the web series.
The polling process for FLYX FILMFARE OTT AWARDS will start from 23rd of November in Filmfare’s official website. Deepak Lamba, CEO of Filmfare Group said ‘The future belongs to OTT platforms and this made us decide to honour the talent that acted and made unique and engaging content in the form of web series. We hope that these awards will boost the morale of the actors who acted on these platforms’.
Filmfare has been conducting these award ceremonies for the last 64 years mostly in Mumbai. Editor of the Filmfare magazine Jitesh Pillai said ‘It is a welcome move from the group to extend the awards to OTT platforms as digital mediums are going to play the leading role in the nation’s entertainment sector’. We have to appreciate this futuristic move of the Filmfare Group.
