The Indian Meteorological Department, Hyderabad, has warned of heavy rains and thunderstorms in Telangana. A low-pressure over the eastern Bay of Bengal may intensify causing heavy rainfall across the state in the next 24 hours.
A warning has also been sounded for thunder-storms accompanied by lightning, which is likely to occur at isolated places with heavy rains. Hyderabad citizens have been warned from venturing out unless it is absolutely necessary. GHMC has already deployed Disaster Relief Teams in the city.
The Hyderabad airport, on Sunday, recorded the highest downpour in the country with 73mm of rainfall being recorded. According to the private weather agency, Skymet Weather Services, India received 957.6 mm of rainfall from June 1 to September 30, which is nine per cent surplus of the Long Period Average.
