Thanks to the Coronavirus, Ayurveda the ancient Indian science has gained prominence with more and more people resorting to home remedies to keep Covid-19 at bay. Even the state and central governments are focusing on developing indigenous alternate medicine systems with the help of AYUSH. Recently, the Telangana govt converted the Nature Cure Hospital in Hyderabad into an institutional quarantine centre, wherein unlike Government hospitals the quality of treatment has been highly commendable with several patients recovering from Covid.
Ancient medicine is miraculous…
The Covid treatment at Nature Cure using traditional Indian medicine is being hailed as miraculous and has helped restore the glory of Ayurveda amongst public. The Department of Medicine has also directed authorities to ensure all possible help so that every household turns into an Ayurvedic centre. Efforts are also being made to distribute immunity-boosting AYUSH medicines on a large-scale basis.
Why no recognition for AYUSH students?
Till date students graduating through various courses in AYUSH following a five-year study have been deprived of a proper recognition. They want the government to grant recognition and fill up all vacant posts in Ayurvedic, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddi and Homeopathy medical systems.
Telangana doing a fine job
In order to provide access to medicine for general public in Telangana, all AYUSH dispensaries would be converted into wellness centres and those where patient footfall is less would be merged with nearest Primary Health Centres. At present, there are 440 AYUSH dispensaries being managed by the state government and 394 dispensaries run by NHRM.
Significant decline in Ayurvedic treatment…
Ayurvedic treatment which has saved countless lives since centuries has been declining with more and more people opting for allopathic treatment. However, the immediate intervention of Telangana government in promoting Ayurveda during these tough times is being hailed by the public. These are several treatments available in Ayurveda when compared to Allopathic medicine and it needs to be seen how this initiative by Telangana government can help propagate the ancient Indian traditional medicine.
