Jaya Bachchan’s fiery speech on drugs issue

NCB’s probe into the drugs scandal in Bollywood is becoming the source for heated debates between parties in the Parliament. Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan condemned calling members of the entire film industry as drug addicts because of the actions of a few people. She countered Lok Sabha MP Ravi Kishan’s speech on Tuesday by saying that punishing the entire industry based on the actions of a few culprits is ridiculous.

Samajwadi Party MP and senior actress said that it is shameful on the part of actor-turned-MP Ravi Kishan to target Bollywood. She even hinted indirectly at Kangana that the honour of Hindi film industry is going for a toss due to the irresponsible comments of a few. Jaya further added that it is not good for an individual who earns bread and butter through films to throw mud on her own industry. Jaya served notices regarding the conspiracy brewing on film industry in ‘Zero hour’. She said that some sections are deliberately targeting the film industry on social media. Jaya reminded that film stars are among the top when it comes to paying income tax in the nation.

Earlier on Monday, Ravi Kishan commented that neighbouring nations like Pakistan and China are supplying drugs into our country via Nepal and Punjab. He added that film industry is falling prey to these narcotic substances. Ravi Kishan appreciated the efficiency of Narcotics Control Board (NCB) in controlling the flow of drugs and arresting the culprits involved in the issue.

Kangana’s war on nepotism started much earlier than this drugs issue. She said stalwarts like Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan reached heights in Bollywood even though they were outsiders. Nepotism started in Bollywood and entered all the regional language industries. There are many people in the industry who are fed up of nepotism but are afraid to talk openly about it. Political analysts say that Kangana has the support of BJP and this is the reason for her outspokenness. This may be the reason behind Jaya Bachchan’s aggressive speech today.
