The AP Mining Department has directed former TDP MP JC Diwakar Reddy to cough up a ₹100 crore fine. It was found that the 76-yr old politician had resorted to irregularities having set up a cement factory titled Trishul. Allegations are that over 14 lakh metric tonnes of illegal mining had been carried out by JC Diwakar Reddy in Yadiki Mandal’s Konapulappadu. It is learnt that officials levied fine on the political leader for having mined precious limestone and for its illegal sale.
Also, the TDP leader had obtained permits to open the Trishul cement factory using the names of his servants and vehicle drivers. The investigations also shed light on the fact that shares were transferred from employees to his family members immediately after the permits were obtained. In case JC Diwakar Reddy fails to pay the ₹100 crores fine, his assets would be confiscated under the R&R Act.
