In what could be termed a gruesome act, a journo from Andhra Pradesh was brutally hacked to death by six unidentified assailants using sickles. According to the police, the journo might have been hacked to death for writing articles on real estate mafia. G Nagaraju (47) who works as a journalist for the Tamil daily Vilagam was murdered in Hosur of Krishnagiri district, close to the Kuppam-Tamil Nadu border.
Nagaraju a journalist by profession is a resident of Hanumantha Nagar locality in Hosur City. On Sunday, while on his way back home after a morning walk around 8 AM, six unidentified assailants stopped Nagaraju and hacked him using sickles. Though the journalist ran for his life, the assailants chased and murdered him.
Nagaraju who hails from Kuppam of Chittoor District settled in Hosur around 15-years back. The journo wrote articles on real estate mafia in the city, which were published in the Tamil daily Vilagam. Police suspect that the articles might’ve infuriated those involved in the real estate racket. It is learnt that Nagaraju, besides working as a journalist, had also been involved in real estate activity and money lending.
Shockingly! Nagaraju had requested police protection citing threat to his life around three months back, but his plea for security was rejected. The journalist is a native of Palarevu Gadda Village of Ramakuppam mandal in Chittoor District and is survived by his wife, son and three daughters. Krishnagiri SP Bandi Gangadhar IPS set up six special teams, and a search is on to nab the murderers. All efforts are being taken by the police to ensure that a speedy investigation is being done in the case.
