Celebrations have begun early among the TDP cadre in Krishna district as the first phase of Gram Panchayat elections concluded on Tuesday. Most of the Sarpanch candidates backed by the TDP won in around 63 villages, especially in major panchayats. Now, elections to 211 panchayats in the first phase ended with 129 YSRCP-backed candidates registering a victory. On the other hand, the TDP backed candidates emerged winners in 63 seats. This led to former minister and TDP politburo member Kollu Ravindra and former MP Konakalla Narayana cut a cake at the TDP office in Machilipatnam. They even congratulated the winning candidates.
YSRCP downfall begins
Former minister Kollu Ravindra opined that the fall of YSRCP leaders began with the gram panchayat elections. He recalled that the YSRCP leaders, who were thirsty for power, had conspired in many ways for YSRCP’s victory in the elections since the notification was issued. Kollu Ravindra hailed the TDP backed candidates for having withstood the threats and intimidation of the YSRCP leaders in villages. He even recollected that in some locations, though the TDP candidates were kidnapped and assaulted physically, they did not deter and instead bravely fought back. Kollu Ravindra went on to say that the results of the panchayat elections are indeed a slap in the face of the YSRCP government.
