Love Triangle suspected behind 19-yr old woman’s murder?

A 19-yr old woman’s murder in Anantapur has turned sensational in AP. Earlier, the deceased woman’s parents had filed a police complaint stating that their daughter had been facing harassment in the name of love.

It is known that AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy had introduced the stringent Disha Bill-Criminal Law (AP Amendment), Bill, 2019, to take action against those committing offences against women in the state. Now, the Bill has been stuck at the Centre as it shouldn’t have conflicts with the central law. While the number of brutal atrocities being committed against women in the State continues to happen. In this context, a shocking murder of a 19-yr old woman in Anantapur on Wednesday has turned sensational in the state. The woman who works as a contract employee in the State Bank of India was brutally murdered and set ablaze allegedly by her former boyfriend.

Attempt to set ablaze by pouring petrol

The woman identified as Snehalatha had been working as an outsourcing employee for the State Bank of India at Dharmavaram and had been travelling to work on her scooter from Anantapur every day. However, the woman went missing since Tuesday evening led to her parents file a missing complaint with the Anantapur One Town Police. Now reports by localites about an unknown body found in a charred state at Badanapalli village on the outskirts of Dharmavaram town led to the police identify it as that of Snehalatha, who had gone missing. However, police said that the accused strangled the woman and tried to set her ablaze by pouring petrol and fled from the location immediately.

What police investigation revealed?

The police who began their investigation into the case questioned the woman’s parents. It was then that the parents revealed that Rajesh a mason by profession, the ex-boyfriend of Snehalatha used to harass and stalk her in the name of love. This led the parents initially lodged a complaint against Rajesh with the police, it was not taken seriously. Now, after the murder of Snehalatha, police arrested Rajesh and interrogated him. This led to Rajesh spill the beans and admit to murdering Snehalatha with the help of his friend Rakesh. Police have filed a case of murder and atrocity against Rakesh in the case. It has also come to light that Rajesh murdered Snehalatha for her intimacy with Praveen. The accused admitted that he was angry with Snehalatha rejecting his love and hence decided to kill her. This led to the police trace the mobile phone of Snehalatha which was hidden by Rajesh. The call records traced show that around 1618 calls were exchanged between Rajesh and the woman in a span of two years. It was after she got a job in the bank that she had distanced Rajesh and grew closer to Praveen, who was her classmate in college.
