The first result in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Elections is out. Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen registered its victory in the GHMC polls from Mehdipatnam division with its candidate Mohammad Majeed Hussain who served as the deputy mayor of the GHMC (2012- 2014) emerging the winner. It is known that the Mehdipatnam division had recorded the lowest voter turnout in the Greater Elections.
A total of 11,818 votes were registered from the division and the results were declared after the first round of counting. In the postal ballot count, BJP had taken the initial lead, with TRS and MIM in the second and third positions respectively. However, the TRS managed to bounce back taking the lead, followed by the BJP and MIM. When compared to the previous elections, the BJP has put up a good performance and it is expected that the results this time might even shock the TRS.
