In a tragic incident, a contractor was targeted by a mob of Maoists who battered Sukumar Mandal to death by axing him at Golia, which falls under Mathili Police Station limits of Malkangiri district close to the Andhra-Odisha border. As per reports, around 15 to 20 Maoists approached Sukumar and began beating him prior to murdering him. They even set three vehicles on fire which include a JCB, Tractor and Bolero.
