Young men and women are committing suicide by succumbing to pressure of life. Financial troubles, marital issues, unemployment and disturbances in personal relations are becoming the primary reasons. Small screen actress Kondapalli Sravani committed suicide on 8th of September. She hails from West Godavari district and came to Hyderabad eight years ago to become an actress.
Sravani became popular with serials like ‘Manasu-Mamatha’ and ‘Mounaragam’. According to her brother Siva, Sravani became friends with Devaraj Reddy through Tik-Tok six months ago and even gave shelter to him in her house. Devaraj convinced Sravani that he doesn’t have parents and was unable to stay in hostel. His pathetic situation moved Sravani so much that she offered shelter at her own house.
Sravani’s family members allege that Devaraj stole her finger prints while she was sleeping and unlocked her phone. He transferred her personal videos from her phone to his and started blackmailing her. Sravani’s brother Siva revealed that they even gave one lakh rupees to Devaraj. He hasn’t stopped blackmailing even after getting paid so they lodged a complaint against him in SR Nagar Police station.
Sravani’s mother reiterated that Devaraj is the reason behind the suicide, and that he has escaped to Guntur. She demanded the police to arrest and ‘hang’ him for his sins. Meanwhile, Devaraj Reddy appeared before the media and told his version of events. “We loved each other and Sravani’s family didn’t like our relationship. That’s why they lodged a malicious complaint on me in SR Nagar Police Station. I never took money from Sravani except thirty thousand rupees which she transferred into my account for a party. I met Sravani three days ago in Sree Kanya hotel. A person who accompanied her interrupted our meeting and dragged her away from me. His name is Sai. When I asked her about the false complaint, she said that she was forced by her family to lodge it. I am not responsible for her death,” he said.
He further added, “Sai is the reason for her death. He manhandled her in front of others and her family tortured her.” Devaraj even released the call recording of their last phone conversation in which Sravani said that Sai is the reason for my death. Whoever may be the reason, Sravani’s suicide is heart-wrenching.
