The BJP has decided to shift its focus on strengthening the party in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and in some other states. As part of its strategy, BJP president JP Nadda has appointed new in-charges for AP and Telangana, with the sole aim to achieve power in both the Telugu speaking states. The names of those leaders who are to strive in leading the party further have been announced.
GHMC election target
The BJP’s victory in Dubbaka by-elections has brought in a new impetus within the party. The party hopes to win Telangana in the future if it campaigns a bit hard in the upcoming elections. Hence, the BJP has put a special focus on the state of Telangana. There are already four MPs, one MLA and one MLC from this state. In addition, the Dubbaka bypoll victory has given a boost to the party and with the same enthusiasm, the party leadership hopes to work towards power in the state.
BJP is taking steps to further strengthen the party, with the party leadership paying special attention to the GHMC polls as they are likely to take place next month. In this backdrop, the BJP has released a list of its state in-charges and co-in charges for 36 states and Union territories. Tarun Chugh a BJP leader from Punjab has been appointed as the in-charge of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and Telangana. The BJP state leadership is considering the GHMC elections seriously and the appointment of a new in-charge for the state definitely will benefit the party.
Sambit Patra has been appointed as in-charge of Manipur, while Former Union Minister and current BJP VP Radha Mohan Singh has been appointed in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, while Kailash Vijayvargiya is in-charge of West Bengal.
Muralitharan to AP
Compared to Telangana, the BJP in the AP is weak. In order to strengthen the BJP in Andhra Pradesh, Vellamvelly Muraleedharan, a leader from Kerala, who is serving as the current Union Minister of State for External Affairs & Parliamentary Affairs takes over as the new in-charge. The present in-charge Sunil V Deodhar has been reappointed as the co-incharge of AP.
Daggubati Purandeswari to Chhattisgarh and Odisha
The BJP has handed over party responsibilities of other states to key leaders in Telugu states. Daggubati Purandeswari, the BJP National Secretary has been made the in-charge of Odisha and Chhattisgarh. While DK Aruna has been appointed the co-in-charge of Karnataka, Muralidhar Rao takes over as Madhya Pradesh in-charge and Y Satya Kumar as the co-incharge of Uttar Pradesh and the incharge of Andaman and Nicobar. In addition, the BJP leadership has appointed Pongleti Sudhakar Reddy as co-incharge of Tamil Nadu.
