New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi leads Congress MPs protest march to Rashtrapati Bhavan

The Congress party held a protest march at 10:45 AM starting from Vijay Chowk to Rashtrapati Bhavan against the new farm laws. The Gandhi Scion led the Congress MPs in meeting President Kovind and submit two crore signatures against the contentious farm laws.

In a bid to seek the intervention of President Ram Nath Kovind in the wake of the farmers protest over the new farm laws, Rahul Gandhi on Thursday led the Congress MPs in a protest march from Vijay Chowk to Rashtrapati Bhavan. Earlier, the Wayanad MP had met the President and even submitted in writing to look into the farmers’ agitation and make sure that the issue is resolved. However, since there has been no response from the President the Congress decided to hold a protest.

It is known that farmers from Haryana and Punjab have been braving the bone-chilling winter in Delhi and have been protesting against the Centre, demanding the withdrawal of the contentious farm laws, which they believe benefits the corporates.

The three farm acts are:
• Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Production and Facilitation) Act, 2020.
• Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020.
• Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
