Nominations for Dubbaka by-election began on Friday. It is learnt that five persons filed nominations as independents in the name of ‘Pandavas’.
Dubbaka by-election was necessitated following the death of incumbent TRS MLA Solipeta Ramalinga Reddy, who suffered a heart attack. The Election Commission recently announced the schedule for the by-election. The nomination process began on Friday with a total of six nominations filed on the first day. Interestingly, five persons known as ‘Kaliyuga Pandavulu’ filed their nominations as independents. The incident has now become a topic of discussion in the constituency.
The ‘famous five’ who filed the nominations under the name ‘Kaliyuga Pandavulu’ hail from different regions. Revu Chinna Dhanraj from Uppal, Mote Naresh from Dharmapuri, Shyam Kumar from Karimnagar, Burra Ravi Teja Goud from Vemulawada. The fifth candidate is from the Choppadandi constituency of Karimnagar district.
For fighting on issues
It is learnt that they have filed nomination papers to fight on the issues people were facing, especially the unemployed. The five members are also demanding that the state government include Corona treatment in Aarogyasri. To fight against these issues, they have named themselves ‘Kaliyuga Pandavulu’.
Solipeta Sujatha from the TRS, Raghunandan Rao from the BJP and Cheruku Srinivas Reddy from the Congress are in the fray. Polling would be held on November 3 and results would be announced on November 10. The last date to file nomination papers is October 16. The last date for withdrawal of nomination is October 19. With five independents filing nominations on the very first day, there is a talk in the Assembly as to how many candidates would file nominations in the constituency.
