There is a widespread discussion about State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar in the state. While TN Seshan left his mark in the conduct of election… Nimmagadda single-handedly fought for the election.
TN Seshan is the man who created a sensation as the Central Chief Election Commissioner. His duties as the Central Election Commissioner were with transparency and efficiency. He is the man who left his mark on the face of the country’s election management with radical changes. Although his electoral reforms were opposed by the political establishments and the media in many ways, he did not hesitate to introduce his intended policies. He was once referred to as the ‘Election Watch Dog’.
Due to the reforms brought in, the flow of money in the elections was hampered. It must be said that the Electoral Commission was at the forefront of exercising its exclusive powers. That is why when he was the commissioner he was called ‘Session versus Nation’.
State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar has shown the world the special powers the Commission had. Facing the attacks from the beginning, he achieved victory finally. He has proved that nothing would stand in front of the decisions of constitutional bodies which are autonomous.
More than 151 MLAs of the ruling party, ministers, party followers have been attacking the election commissioner. He was removed for cancelling the elections earlier and Kanagarajan was appointed. He was reinstated after the intervention of the court. Since then, he was insulted by the YSRCP leaders on several occasions.
Still, Ramesh Kumar did not get afraid and his decisions which were not for his own benefit which were only for the benefit of the people made him victorious. His efforts to take up elections without any fear have got him appreciation. He reminded TN Seshan.
The SEC rescheduled the elections. The Commission has decided to postpone the notification of the first phase of elections to the fourth phase and change the schedule of the second schedule to the first. According to the previous schedule, the elections were to be held on February 5, 9, 13 and 17. After the changes, the elections will be held on February 9, 13, 17 and 21. Sensational orders are being issued one by one transferring the officers who were obstructing the conduct of impartial elections in this order.
