Political hunt continues in Andhra Pradesh

A cash reward of Rs 1 lakh was announced by the AP Police for any information on Dr. Pothineni Ramesh, the owner of Ramesh Hospitals in Vijayawada.

Ramesh Hospital managed the Covid centre at Swarna Palace Hotel in Vijayawada where the horrific fire mishap took place, claiming the lives of 11 people and injuring several others. Dr. Ramesh, who was booked for the mishap for his alleged negligence, has been absconding ever since. Political analysts say he is being targeted because of his community and a ‘Zoom call’ with Nara Chandrababu Naidu who is the sworn enemy of Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy. Dr. Ramesh is perceived to be close to the TDP chief.

AP Police on Thursday announced a cash reward of Rs. 1 lakh for any information about the accused. The Krishna district collector had earlier revoked the license of Ramesh Hospital to treat COVID patients after the mishap at Swarna Palace Hotel.

Meanwhile, the Vijayawada city commissioner of police, B. Sreenivasulu, said eight special teams have been formed to arrest the managing director of the hospital, Dr. Ramesh Babu, who is reportedly absconding.
The police said that Dr. Ramesh Babu has been missing since the news of the fire at Swarna Palace broke. They are also on the lookout for the owner of Swarna Palace Hotel, Mutthavarapu Srinivas Rao.
