Pro-Trump protesters storm US Capitol, 4 including a woman dead in the chaos

An alleged mob of pro-Trump supporters created a chaos at the United States Capitol when the lawmakers met to certify Biden’s electoral college victory in the presidential elections.

In what could be termed unprecedented, a mob of pro-Trump supporters surrounded the US Capitol hill causing widespread chaos and violence, forcing law enforcement agencies to use fire and tear gas to bring the situation under control. In the riots, four people were killed while a woman was shot dead. The protesters were seen smashing window panes, scaling on rafters, tearing US flags and moving inside the Senate chamber and Rotunda. Meanwhile, the US security managed to evacuate Vice President Mike Pence and other lawmakers who were inside the Capitol to safe areas.

Global leaders condemned and expressed shock over the violence that took place in the World’s oldest democracy. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter saying, “Distressed to see news about rioting and violence in Washington DC. Orderly and peaceful transfer of power must continue. The democratic process cannot be allowed to be subverted through unlawful protests.”

Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi’s office was totally damaged by Trump protesters in the riots. However, Vice President Mike Pence later reconvened the joint session of Congress after a violent mob stalled the ratification of President-elect Biden’s electoral college victory.
