Rajahmundry: Idols in Subramanya Swamy Temple destroyed

Attacks on temples still continue in Andhra Pradesh. Idols in Subramanya Swamy Temple have been destroyed by unidentified miscreants.

The attacks on temples in AP continues. The idols of Lord Rama were destroyed by thugs at the Subramanya Swamy Temple in Rajahmundry, even before one could forget the 400-year-old Lord Rama idol vandalised at the Ramatheertham temple in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram district. The thugs destroyed the hands of Subramanya Swamy. The issue has triggered immense outrage with locals taking out protest on a large scale.
The Subramanya Swamy Temple, located in Rajahmundry, is home to the unique idol wherein a snake is seen surrounding the body of God Subrahmanya. Also, on a daily basis, hundreds of devotees visit the temple. TDP president Atchannaidu Kinjarapu expressed shock over the vandalism, adding that he was outraged over such crowded temples being targeted and idols of Gods being destroyed. He demanded that at least now the state government take strict action in identifying those attacking temples.

God shall take care

Opposition parties are furious that CM Jaganmohan Reddy has not taken action in the case of attacks on temples in AP. Since the YSRCP government assumed power in the state around 126 temple idols have been vandalised. However, Vishwa Hindu Parishad leaders are angry that no one has been arrested so far.
Reacting over the issue, BJP leader Penmetsa Vishnu Kumar Raju has lashed out at the AP CM for saying that God will take care of those who attack temples. He demanded in Visakhapatnam that the government take steps to stop the attacks on temples in the state.
