‘Sadak’ is one of the milestones in Sanjay Dutt’s acting career which was released 29 years ago. It became a sensational hit and Pooja Bhatt starred as the leading lady while her father Mahesh Bhatt directed the movie. After taking a break from direction for 20 years, Mahesh Bhatt made ‘Sadak-2’. Sanjay Dutt reprised his role as a taxi driver while Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur played the lead roles.
Plot
Ravi Kishore (Sanjay Dutt) is a taxi driver who lives in depression due to the demise of his wife Pooja (Pooja Bhatt). He even tries to commit suicide. Meanwhile Aarya (Alia Bhatt) who embarks on a journey to Kailash mountains in remembrance of her deceased mother meets Sanjay. The film revolves around the question, ‘Why did her stepmother along with a fake Godman wanted to kill Aarya?” Sanjay Dutt stands as a saviour for Alia and Aditya Roy Kapur who befriends in a bid to assassinate her. Rest of the story shows how Alia transforms Aditya Roy Kapur and saves her life.
Analysis
Sadak-2 falls flat from the word ‘Go’. Screenplay is utterly boring. If you want to watch it because you liked Sadak, then you are in for an even bigger disappointment. One cannot believe that this was directed by Mahesh Bhatt who has given classic films in the past. Sanjay’s character is the only saving grace in the film while Alia’s character is mediocre. Aditya Roy Kapur is totally wasted. Apart from cinematography, nothing shines in this sequel.
