Om Raut’s Adipurush is based on the epic Ramayan in which Prabhas is playing the role of Lord Rama. Bollywood star hero Saif Ali Khan is roped in to essay the role of Raavan in it and his character was named Lankesh by the makers.
Saif dragged this Pan-Indian 3D flick into unnecessary controversy with his frank revelations about his role. He said ‘I am excited to play the role of a demon king. We are trying to show the humane side of Raavn by justifying that the abduction of Sita was only due to the revenge on Ram’s acts towards Surpanakha’.
This statement flared up the controversy and Hindu organizations warned to stall the film if the makers show Raavan in a positive light. The makers reportedly asked Saif to issue an apology and the actor released a statement saying ‘I never meant to hurt people’s sentiments in any way and sincerely apologize for my statements. I look up to Lord Rama for his righteousness and Adipurush depicts the triumph of good over evil’.
