Kushboo Sundar is an actress predominantly known in the South Indian film industry having begun her career as a child artiste in Bollywood. Following her stint in films, the actress made her political debut having joined the Congress. However, the Congress National Spokesperson has shocked the grand old party with her latest move. Once known for being vociferous against the right wing BJP, Kushboo lately has been staying away from the Congress. She even hit the headlines for having supported the PM Modi led government’s National Education Policy 2020, contrary to Congress’ stand on the policy. This led to the Congress expressing its displeasure against her.
Kushboo is expected to join the BJP in the presence of its National President Jagat Prakash Nadda on Monday noon. In this context, the Tamil Nadu actress-politician’s entry into the BJP is set to be a big boost for the ruling party, especially with the former’s strong following in the state. Political experts opine that this adds to BJP’s growing star power.
Political strategy
The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections will be held in May 2021 for 234 seats. BJP is trying to make a show of strength against the ruling AIADMK by trying to improve its tally. The BJP couldn’t become a major force in the state since a decade, and is strategizing every possible way to make its presence known. Hence, the Lotus party has opened its doors for influential leaders from other parties. Only time will tell how Kushboo can fortify her presence in the pro-Hindu political party. However, for the time being it is advantage BJP in Tamil Nadu.
