Stones pelted on BJP Chief JP Nadda’s convoy in West Bengal

The BJP Chief JP Nadda is on a two-day visit to West Bengal to campaign ahead of the 2021 Assembly elections. His convoy was today attacked with stones and bricks while travelling to Diamond Harbour in South 24 Parganas in Kolkata.

The BJP on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the West Bengal government for its lapse in providing security to the saffron party chief JP Nadda, whose convoy was targeted with bricks and stones. Union Home Minister Amit Shah lashed out at CM Mamata Banerjee over the state of lawlessness and sought a report into the incident. Several cars in the convoy of BJP Chief Nadda, BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya and West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh have also been damaged. Video footage of car’s windscreen and windows shattering as they were being pelted with stones, believed to be that of the BJP chief has gone viral on the internet.

“The scenes I saw while coming here are highlights of the anarchy prevailing under (Chief Minister) Mamata Banerjee in Bengal. We were able to reach here because of the blessings of Maa Durga. TMC workers left no stones unturned to stop or finish us. This is goondaraj. I had a bulletproof car. But almost all other cars were damaged,” JP Nadda said, adding that the West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has stooped to a new low. The convoy of the BJP chief was targeted at Diamond Harbour, which is the Lok Sabha constituency of Abhishek Banerjee, of the All India Trinamool Congress.
