In the good old days, poets and artists who lavished praises on King’s rule were immediately rewarded with ornaments and given as gifts. We have seen such scenes in many mythological films. Now there are rumours that such incidents are recurring in AP state politics.
It is a fact that during the recent five-day assembly session, the ministers, literally everyone in the YSRCP, used their time to praise the CM in some form. On the last day, these compliments reached a new height. Thammineni Seetharam, who is also the speaker, praised Jagan as a divine messenger sent by God to end the demons (TDP). Everyone knew that the CM was happy with such comments.
After these developments, Seetharam is said to have met CM Jagan. It was during this time that he introduced his son Nag and asked him to give him a chance in the coming elections. However, YCP leaders are widely discussing that Jagan, who knows Seetharam’s desire in his mind, has promised him a minister’s post. Seetharam, who was previously known as a firebrand leader in the TDP, has made a name for himself in Srikakulam politics. Now in Srikakulam district, the YCP has leaders and ministers but firebrand leaders are in shortage.
Though Dharmana Prasada Rao is a senior in the district, he speaks only on the subject and is not a firebrand. Deputy CM Krishnadas and Minister Appalaraju also keep away from aggressive politics and comments. Though they are aggressively trying to make their presence felt, they are not compatible with Seetharam. Jagan seems to think that it would be better to satisfy people like Seetharam to make the party more resilient in the district by next elections. Therefore, local YSRCP cadre is of the view that Seetharam will definitely get a post in the coming cabinet expansion.
Will dreams come true?
Speculations in political circles are that the Speaker, senior politician and former minister Tammineni Seetharam will be promoted soon. Senior party leaders say CM Jagan is in favour of giving him the minister post. He is known for his aggressive nature, loyalty, availability in the constituency and is also ready to attack the opposition whenever possible. It is said that during the winter sessions of the recently concluded Assembly, the Speaker continuously suspended the opposition members and acted in favour of the ruling party. YSRCP followers, especially his fans, are optimistic that he will be promoted. We have to see what will happen.
