TV5 – NTV fight turns a damp squib

The two Telugu channels, which promised big revelations against each other with teasers and promos suddenly go silent

A fight between two Telugu television channels is creating quite a buzz now. Though it is common for TV channels to fight for dominance, two rivals going for each other’s jugular is rare. TV5 and NTV are now engaged in a bitter war, leaving no stone unturned to berate and run down the other. TV5 released a teaser video with title ‘Jubilee Hills Society in the clutches of Anaconda’ with allegations of huge scam in the name of construction of houses by the society. As this video created ripples, the NTV management went on offensive ‘revealing the true colours’ of TV5 management.

A promo clip put out by NTV with title ‘One Naidu, hundred tricks’ tried to put TV5 owner in dock with a slew of allegations. It accuses the TV owner of minting money by selling castor oil to gullible people. Naturally people who watched the promos and teasers of the rivals expected a big bang in the upcoming telecasts.

However, the war proved to be damp squib as both channels removed these videos within 24 hours. There is a talk that both the channels owned by a same caste have patched up. As to why TV5 started this war in the first place, an interesting narrative is being peddled. NTV recently put out a story on AP State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar. It wonders what Nimmagadda achieved by all his legal fight to take back his chair as SEC. Clearly, the story is seen favouring the ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh. According to reliable sources, this anti-Nimmagadda story rubbed TV5 the wrong way. It tried to embarrass NTV management by talking about Jubilee Hills Society and allegations against it. Whatever the reasons, the ceasefire between the rival channels deprived the people of the chance to know the truths behind their allegations against each other.
