UP: Gangetic dolphin killed using axes and sticks

In what could be termed heart-wrenching, viral footage of three men killing a Gangetic dolphin has gone viral drawing immense outrage. The incident which took place last month in Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh shows several men beating the aquatic mammal in the water body as the creature is seen writhing in pain as it bled to death. It is known that Gangetic dolphins in India belong to a very rare species and is on the verge of extinction due to widespread hunting. As the video went viral on the internet, police had apprehended the three men on December 31, 2020.
