Gannavaram politics has once again become a hot topic. Vallabhaneni Vamsi, who won from the TDP in the 2019 elections, has joined the YCP. However, Vamsi is unable to adjust himself within the party. His opponents are questioning his supremacy over them as he won on a TDP ticket. With this, Vamshi said that he would resign and contest from Gannavaram again with the consent of the YSRCP Chief. Though, Vamshi tried to contest from long on a YCP ticket CM Jagan hasn’t given him the nod yet. It is learnt that the TDP is contemplating to make former minister Devineni Uma contest the election if whoever contests from Gannavaram.
I am ready… Devineni
Former minister Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao has made it clear that he was ready to contest if the party directs him to contest from Gannavaram by-election if the need arises. The TDP chief was adamant that the party should win Gannavaram under any circumstances. Vallabhaneni Vamsi, an MLA who won from TDP and joined YCP, had harshly criticized TDP chief Chandrababu. The entire TDP machinery is gearing up to defeat the MLA if at all a by-election happens. If this turns a reality, Gannavaram by-elections will be similar to Dubbaka in Telangana.
Will the CM give a green signal in present circumstances?
The YCP government which is not even ready to hold municipal elections may not accept by-elections to be held in Gannavaram, as it would be difficult for the party. Hence, MLA Vamshi’s claims that he would resign appears to be staged. It is difficult to face TDP in Gannavaram and along with this, the YCP is divided into three groups. Political analysts opine that the party will not allow the Gannavaram MLA to resign.
