The political heat in Krishna district has heated up. A verbal duel between YSRCP Minister Kodali Nani and former TDP minister Devineni Uma has intensified. The issue blew out of proportion especially after the police had raided the poker camps in Gudivada. This led to the former TDP minister Devineni Uma allege that Kodali Nani’s followers were running these camps. Reacting on this, the Gudivada MLA lashed out questioning whether those playing poker would be hanged. He even went on to say that if cases were filed, they would come out by simply paying a fine of Rs 50, Rs 100. Since then, the verbal rant between the leaders has been continuing. On Monday during a meeting at Mylavaram, the YSRCP MLA resorted to using expletives. Kodali Nani even went on to warn the TDP former minister saying that he would visit the latter’s house if needed and teach him a lesson.
Devineni’s counter challenge
The former TDP Minister Devineni on Tuesday sat on a protest at the NTR statue in Gollapudi (a neighbourhood of Vijayawada) over the objectionable comments, which were being made by Kodali Nani. As a result, around a thousand police personnel were deployed at the location to prevent any untoward incidents. Section 144 has also been enforced in Gollapudi. Devineni even hit out at the YSRCP saying that none of the TDP leaders nor workers were being allowed by the police and that they were being dispersed.
However, heightened tension prevailed in Gollapudi over the developments.
