The security along the beach road in Vizag is being beefed up from Saturday. Special teams have been formed to monitor security as public throng in huge numbers during weekends as well as holidays. All aspects related to vehicle parking, pickpocketing and crime along the coastal stretch will be controlled by four special teams consisting of Law-and-Order Police, Traffic, AR and Marine Community Guards.
The primary team consists of Armed Reserve Police, who will be surveilling from rooftop areas spanning across 19 locations, from Fishing Harbour to IT SEZ. The security personnel equipped with binoculars, dragon lights and man packs continuously monitor the long stretch of the beach road for suspicious activities. On every rooftop, two personnel are deployed. In the secondary team, Law and Order Police and AR personnel will be manning 30 locations along the beach road. They are responsible for the safety and security of tourists visiting the beach. The team also includes ‘She Team’ officers.
In the third team, Traffic Police will be monitoring 36 locations starting from Fishing Harbour on the beach road and systematic vehicle parking. While the fourth team consisting of Marine and Community Guards will be moving along the sandy shores and are responsible for warning those who venture out deep into the ocean. They will also be observed for those who might get swept away in the strong waves. They are equipped with life jackets, in plated rubber tubes and ropes. From 4 PM to 8:30 PM around 190 police officers will be on duty to ensure the safety and security of tourists and visitors at the Vizag Beach.
