Even this time, the strategy was to split the votes of DMK in order to benefit the AIADMK or for Rajnikanth to have emerged victorious due to his massive stardom.

Having announced his political entry, Rajnikanth arrived in Hyderabad for the shooting of Annaatthe at Ramoji Film City. When some of the crew members tested positive for Coronavirus, the shooting was stalled. It was during this gap that Rajini had been hospitalized. However, doubts arose among the public whether the 70-yr old was really unwell? On the other hand, it is also being heard that Rajinikanth had met some people and discussed with them regarding the pros and cons of fighting in the upcoming elections.
