The Indian Meteorological Department on Tuesday stated that cyclone Nivar has turned severe and would make landfall on Wednesday between 8 PM and 12 AM. Edappadi K Palaniswami led AIADMK government has taken all precautions and has warned the public not to venture outside unless necessary while declaring a public holiday tomorrow. In Puducherry Section 144 has been imposed for a span of three days. The cyclone which is moving in the North West direction will pass through Karaikal and Mamallapuram coast around noon.<\/p>\n
According to IMD, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Puducherry and Chennai are expected to bear the brunt of the severe cyclonic storm. The National Disaster Response Force has already deployed 1,200 personnel for rescue and relief operations in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry. An additional 800 personnel have also been deployed for standby operations.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, heavy rainfall is expected to lash coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalseema. Fishermen in coastal regions have also been advised from venturing into the Bay of Bengal in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.<\/p>\n
