The Andhra Pradesh government is all geared up for the Assembly sessions which will be held for a span of five days beginning November 30th. According to the Indian constitution, Assembly sessions are to be held mandatorily for every six months. Keeping this in mind, the state government amidst the pandemic concerns had decided to hold temporary Assembly sessions. While AP Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan issued notifications in this regard summoning the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly.<\/p>\n

This year, the Monsoon session of the AP Legislature was not held due to the Coronavirus pandemic in the months of July and August. Around 11 ordinances which were promoted since August 4, needs to be amended and replaced with fresh laws. The AP Motor Vehicles Taxation Act is also being introduced by the AP government to increase transport taxes, in a bid to garner an additional revenue to the tune of Rs 400 crore. Also, the Disha Bill for women protection, which was passed by the AP Assembly earlier, needs to be modified in order to secure President’s assent.<\/p>\n

Corona guidelines in place<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The AP government has made special arrangements to make sure the sessions are safely conducted amid the pandemic surge. On the other hand, all legislators attending the session need to compulsorily undergo Covid tests. Already, 12 YSRCP legislators have tested positive for the dreaded Coronavirus and currently around 15000 active Covid cases have been reported in AP.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
