AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy had a bittersweet experience on Tuesday. The Supreme Court after hearing three Public Interest litigations which were filed against YS Jagan has dismissed two of them. A Supreme Court Bench comprising of Judges Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Dinesh Maheshwari and Hrishikesh Roy had heard three PILs filed against the Andhra CM demanding that the latter be sacked and action taken legally for his allegations against Judge NV Ramana. Three lawyers – GS Mani, Pradeep Kumar Yadav and Sunil Kumar Singh, along with an NGO Anti-Corruption Council of India Trust had filed the plea against Jagan for having made unsubstantiated claims. The lawyers also reminded the top court that Jagan himself faces 20 criminal cases.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou pick up something from the newspaper and file whatever you want. This is not how this is done. If 100 people want to assist, then how can we allow 100 people to intervene? This will become an endless exercise,\u201d the Bench said, adding that the plea filed by Sunil Kumar Singh needs to be tagged for further investigation.<\/p>\n

According to lawyer Sushil Kumar Singh, the AP CM\u2019s remarks against a sitting member of the higher judiciary needs to be restrained and that it is in violation of Article 121 of the Indian constitution, wherein discussion regarding a Supreme or High Court Judge\u2019s demeanour is prohibited in Parliament. It is known that Attorney General KK Venugopal refused to initiate contempt proceedings against YS Jaganmohan Reddy and his principal advisor Ajeya Kallam (IAS), who put the controversial letter to CJI SA Bobde in the public domain.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
