It was on August 28, 1949, that the Indian Government had set up a committee chaired by then Defence Minister to observe this day as the Armed Forces Flag Day. The are three main crucial objectives \u2013 Rehabilitation of battle casualties, to ensure the well being of the families of active military personnel and the resettlement and welfare of ex-servicemen.<\/p>\n<p>To celebrate the occasion, the Indian tri-services \u2013 Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force organize a variety of events comprising of carnivals, dramas and entertainment shows. The Indian public is also requested to donate in-kind towards the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund (AFFDF). To mark the occasion, small flags in red, deep and light blue colours are distributed in public to encourage and create awareness among the general public to make donations. There are also various funds such as \u2013 Amalgamated special fund for war bereaved, Flag Day Fund, St Dunstan\u2019s (India) and Kendriya Sainik Board Fund and Indian Gorkha Ex-Servicemen\u2019s Welfare Fund.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Armed Forces Flag Day is a day to express gratitude to our armed forces and their families. India is proud of their heroic service and selfless sacrifice. <\/p>\n<p>Do contribute towards the welfare of our forces.
